Master Electricians Australia (MEA) is today strengthening its presence in Tasmania, with the appointment of Andrew Bowen as an officially-endorsed MEA spokesperson and representative.

Mr Bowen, based in Launceston, is well-placed to offer support, information and resources to MEA members, to address contractor issues on MEA’s behalf with the regulator and industry stakeholders, and to guide electricians on how to utilise their memberships.

MEA Tasmania State Manager Simon Tengende said the appointment is a coup for the state.

“This is exciting news for contractors in Tasmania. Andrew has a wealth of knowledge which comes from years of experience in the industry.

“Andrew will help MEA continue our commitment to helping Tasmanian contractors and clients. We have led the way in highlighting the dangers surrounding faulty products such as the recently-recalled infinity cables.

“Master Electricians has also been a key supporter of the installation of safety switches, as issue that’s in the national spotlight following the release of the recommendations of the Royal Commission into the home insulation scheme.”

Mr Bowen said the new partnership with MEA will help keep the state’s members connected to such national issues.

“MEA’s track-record representing contractors on the Pink Batts insulation scheme debacle, its success after a year-long campaign to have the infinity cable recalled, and its calls for a national safety switch campaign, show it is a modern and dynamic trade association,” Mr Bowen said.

“I look forward to helping contractors connect with local and national issues, and to providing them with face-to-face representation,” he said.

MEA Tasmania State Manager Simon Tengende, together with Spokesperson and Representative Andrew Bowen, invite electricians and the general public to find out more about the support services which will be available across the state.
